PERSONAL TAX SERVICES
We start by having you fill out our SheDo Checklist, to gather your personal information, such as legal name, date of birth, Social Insurance Number (SIN) and more. We can send you an electronic version to fill out, or a PDF to print and return to us.
Once you have filled out this information so that we can get started on your tax return, we will need to get authorization to access your CRA account. At this point, we will gather the information for your specific tax situation and let you know all the documents/receipts/slips we need.
We have additional checklists to gather the details of your Business, Rental property, Employment expenses and more. Be sure to keep all your supporting documentation for 6 years in case the CRA asks to see it.
Providing us with a copy of your most recently filed T1 return and Notice of Assessment (NOA) is recommended, and will help us determine if any additional slips or information are required.
We handle the majority of our clients on a virtual basis – gathering information through email and secure document servers – allowing you to file your taxes with us from the comfort of your home.
Our base fee for an individual tax return is $120+hst for a basic return with up to 10 T-slips. We offer a discount for couples at a rate of $200+hst when filing at the same time. We have discounted rates for full-time students (high school and college/university) and low-income seniors. Returns with additional T-slips (over 10) and complex situations will have an additional cost. For Sole Proprietorship and Partnership businesses, Rental Properties, Employment Expenses, Capital Gains, Moving Expenses, and other additional forms/schedules to be added, we charge per service, and hourly rates for calculations/bookkeeping. Contact us for more details related to your tax situation.
Other T1-related services, such as assisting with a Review and submitting documents to the CRA on your behalf, vary in pricing and are usually charged at our hourly rate of $99+hst for the first hour and $69+hst for each additional hour.
Many of our personal tax clients come to us with a box or online folder full of receipts. In many cases, we can help! However, as we process a high volume of returns from February to April, our team may have limited time for back bookkeeping in these months. Hourly rates for this service from February to April may be higher. If you require this service, reach out to us early!
If you are self-employed – with a sole-proprietorship, partnership or T4A contractor slip income – your tax return, and that of your spouse or common-law partner, is due June 15th. However, any tax balance owing is still due April 30th! Keep in mind that self-employed individuals often owe income tax and CPP contributions, as there is no employer deducting and remitting your tax throughout the year. If you are self-employed, we recommend getting a start on your taxes earlier, or making instalment payments/lump sum payment on or before April 30th to avoid interest charges.
We can help! SheDo Tax Company can be granted access to your CRA My Account through the “Represent a Client” portal. You can grant us access through your CRA MyAccount or provide us with your most recent NOA and sign an authorization form. From here we have limited access to previous years tax data, as well as all slips on file. By referencing past years’ returns and slips, we will do our best to make sure no income slips or credits are missed!
If we are waiting for the authorization process to be completed, or for your slips to be available, we can still start your return with the information provided on the SheDo T1 Checklist. Once the missing slips are available, we can plug them in and go from there!
Short answer: NO! Even if you can’t pay your balance owing, you should always file your tax return on time if possible. If you file late, CRA will add late-filing penalties to your balance owing. If you are unable to pay your tax balance owing, we highly recommend calling CRA to set up a payment plan that will not cause undue financial hardship. If you show that you are making an effort to pay your debt, CRA will work with you to find the best solution.
No, we do not offer instant cash back. We e-file your return for you once you have signed off on your return and paid our invoice. If you have direct deposit you can normally expect your refund within 7-10 business days from the time of filing, unless CRA selects your return for review or requires additional documentation to process your return.
CORPORATE TAX SERVICES
Our base fee is $1,500+hst and up, depending on the gross revenue of your business, volume of Chart of Accounts, number of Adjusting Journal Entries required, number of Associated Corporations and complexity of your return. This price includes preparation of the T2 return and Financial Statements. If you require bookkeeping services, including significant review or cleanup of books, we charge hourly at $99+hst for the first hour and $69+hst for each additional hour. Additional services, such as GST/HST Return filing, T-slip filing, Letter to Lawyer and other services are charged per service or at our hourly rates.
To file a NIL corporate return – with no income, expenses and no changes to the assets, liabilities and equity of the company in the fiscal year – we have discounted rates.

SheDo Tax Company does offer incorporation services for small corporations with one shareholder both at a federal level with Corporations Canada and provincial level with Service Ontario. For corporations with more than one shareholder, we recommend consulting a legal professional to draw up an agreement between multiple parties. Incorporation of your business includes a Nuans name search, minute book and guidance through the incorporation process.
We recommend scheduling a business consultation with our CEO Kelly before beginning the incorporation process, so that you know all the requirements and considerations before you begin.
Yes, we can. Whether you have bought or sold a corporation, or are just closing down operations, we can assist in the process for dissolving a corporation or amalgamating two existing corporations.

BOOKKEEPING SERVICES
Here at SheDo Tax we conduct monthly, quarterly and annual bookkeeping services. We exclusively use QuickBooks Online, but can migrate from many different software systems including Sage and QuickBooks Desktop. We can help you take care of HST remittances, payroll, bank reconciliation, expense tracking and invoicing. We have ongoing monthly packages, or pay-as-you-go hourly bookkeeping for quarterly/annual review.
Monthly bookkeeping rates vary based on the size of your business, number of accounts to track, volume of transactions and extent of services required. We are currently accepting new clients! Contact us to fill out our Bookkeeping Intake form and discuss your business’s needs.
A lot of our clients find that QuickBooks Online's free training videos don't cover all of their questions, and they need 1-on-1 training to suit the needs of their business. We are happy to provide this training virtually! Our QBO trainer, Rachel, will set up a time through Google Meetings, share her screen and give you specific training to fit your needs.
The cost is $130+hst per session. Virtual Training sessions are scheduled from May to December, and are generally unavailable from January to April, as we buckle down in tax season.
GENERAL/OTHER QUESTIONS
SheDo Tax Company is happy to offer fully virtual services. We proudly have clients all over Canada. We can gather all information via email, telephone or online drive such as Google. Now that the CRA is currently accepting electronic signatures, we use a wonderful program that will allow you to sign your documents online from your phone or laptop. Easy peasy!
We have a strong team of 8. We pride ourselves on getting your T1 return completed within 5 days, sometimes as quickly as 24 hours for simple returns. More complicated returns, situations where further information is required, or filing for more than 2 years at a time may take longer.
T2 Corporate returns are a lot more detailed and complex. T2 corporate returns take about 1-3 weeks to process for a simple return. In situations where information is missing, or further bookkeeping cleanup or documentation is required, these returns will take more time.
